Fear Is Running Your Life

coach's corner the performance six Jun 01, 2025

Let’s stop pretending.

You’re not avoiding that tough pricing conversation because you “don’t want to upset the client.”
You’re not avoiding lead follow-up because you’re “busy.”
You’re not holding back on raising your standards because “the market is weird.”

You’re scared.
And fear is running your business.

You can’t outwork fear. You can’t schedule around it. You can’t manifest your way past it.
You might be able to temporarily distract yourself with busywork, but fear doesn’t disappear. It just hides behind justifications:

  • “Now isn’t the right time.”
  • “They’re probably not ready.”
  • “I don’t want to come off too pushy.”
  • “I need to feel more confident first.”

Fear loves these excuses. It feeds on them.

The problem isn’t the conversation, the strategy, the CRM, or the shifting market. The problem is you’re letting fear sit in the driver’s seat and pretending you’re in control.

The real estate business is built to trigger fear.

This business is a perfect storm for fear:
βœ… High stakes.
βœ… No guaranteed outcomes.
βœ… Public exposure.
βœ… Constant comparison.
βœ… Frequent rejection.
βœ… Endless uncertainty.

Welcome to the emotional octagon.

If you're not actively doing the work to understand and disarm fear, you will stay stuck in a cycle of survival—reactive, defensive, burnt out, and quietly resentful. You’ll build a career based on avoidance, not mastery.

You’ll chase business instead of cultivating it.
You’ll please instead of lead.
You’ll accommodate instead of advise.
You’ll discount instead of deliver.

All in the name of staying safe. All to avoid discomfort.

Fear will not go away. But you can change your relationship to it.

You don’t conquer fear. You re-wire how you relate to it.

Fear is a survival response—hardwired in your brain. It’s not bad. It’s not wrong. It just is. But when you let that survival wiring run your business, you stay small. You shrink from challenge. You make emotional decisions instead of strategic ones.

You must learn to see fear clearly, call it out, and do the thing anyway.

This is the work. This is the transformation.

You don’t need another script. You need to stop letting fear whisper lies in your ear.

  • “They’re not going to like you if you tell the truth.”
  • “You’re going to lose the deal if you push too hard.”
  • “You’re not good enough to charge full fee.”
  • “You're behind. You’re failing.”

Recognize that voice. It is not you. It’s your survival brain trying to protect you. It’s your past playing on loop.

Mastery starts where fear tries to stop you.

The real transformation happens at the point of resistance.
That uncomfortable conversation you keep delaying? That’s where you grow.
That standard you know you need to enforce? That’s the line that changes everything.
That emotionally charged negotiation? That’s where you become the trusted advisor.

Success in this business is not about doing more—it’s about doing what’s hard and meaningful. Over and over again.

You don’t need more time.
You don’t need better leads.
You don’t need a bigger network.
You need courage.

Fear will always be there.
The question is—will it run your life? Or will you finally stop and face it?

This is what the Performance Six is really about.

Every piece of The Performance Six—Mindfulness, Time, Relationships, Process, Communication, Strategic Execution—is designed to help you break free from fear’s grip.

  • Practicing Mindfulness helps you see fear without being consumed by it.
  • Optimizing Time helps you stop hiding behind busyness.
  • Cultivating Relationships helps you build trust by being real, not rehearsed.
  • Implementing Standards forces you to rise instead of retreat.
  • Mastering Communication gives you the tools to handle emotion with clarity.
  • Strategic Execution replaces reaction with intention.

This isn’t surface-level motivation. This is rewiring your brain for a different life—a fearless one, a flavorful one, a full-fee one.

If you want that life, you’ve got to earn it.
By doing the hard things.
By telling the truth.
By facing what scares you.

Want to stop surviving and start succeeding? Start by asking yourself this:

“Where is fear quietly running the show in my business?”
And then… do the thing that fear is trying to keep you from doing.

That’s how you break free.

That’s how you win.
